Bridgerton wedding by Haley Sue Photos

Whether you’re planning a wedding in six months or have dreamed of being the perfect bride since you were five, your end goal is an amazing wedding. How do you do that and still make your special day about you and your partner? Here are some quick tips to help.

It’s All About You

This tip shouldn’t even have to be on the list, but it’s one that often gets overlooked in the planning process. The day needs to be about you and your partner and the love you share. That’s the whole point of the celebration. Of course, you want your guests to be happy and to show your appreciation for them showing up and supporting you, but in the end, remember that it really is all about you.

Name Your Price

Set a realistic budget and stick to it. It needs to be one you are comfortable with and not cause you extra stress. Figure out what’s worth splurging on (photography should definitely be a splurge! (See these tips on making your couples session a winner) and where you can save. You might find that some areas aren’t as important as others, so you can trim your budget there.

Be Flexible

Going with the flow and allowing for some wiggle room in your timeline will help keep you stress-free. Don’t try to have everything planned down to the minute, and expect to have everything go as planned because it rarely does. You should concentrate on enjoying yourself and not worrying about the minute details of your big day.

Forget About It

Just because it’s always been done that way doesn’t mean you have to do it. Skip any traditions that don’t fit your and your partner’s taste. Does the garter toss make you uncomfortable? Forget about it. You can either remove anything you don’t love or add something new that is special to you and your partner.

Unplugged

Consider having an unplugged ceremony by requesting that your guests put their phones away during your ceremony. Having 20 phones popping up, and even some people moving about to snap the ‘best’ picture, can be distracting and interfere with your professional ceremony photos.

Figure it Out

Coordinate with your photographer to find the most photo-worthy spot for your ceremony at your wedding venue. Lighting conditions play a huge role in how your photos will turn out, so you’ll need to find the area with the most ideal lighting. To have the most stunning images possible, and ones that resemble your photographer’s style best, it takes planning.

Choose Who You Love

Choose vendors you love. This is important because it can make the difference between a fantastic wedding and a possibly not-so-great one. You need to choose wedding vendors based on how they mesh with you and your vision and not just because they’re the cheapest option out there.

Can the DJ you hired play the best wedding songs to dance to according to your style? Or will you argue over the playlist? Will your caterer be able to create a menu you love that fits within your budget, or will you have to settle for something you don’t like? It may take some searching, but the right vendor is out there for you.
